This species has green beans rich in rutin, a widespread flavonoid with antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory and circulatory, attaches great importance. D. gardneriana is a species with moderate population density, being found in the States of Piauí, Minas Gerais and Ceará. Even so, there are a few basic studies to understand their ecological and physiological attributes under stress conditions. For the simulation of the test researchers conducted a simulation experiment of water restriction with polyethylene glycol 6000 solution (PEG 6000) osmotic potential of 0,-0.2; -0.4; -0.6; -0.8 and-1.0 Mpa and at temperatures of 20, 25, 30 and 35ºc obtained with the aid of germination plant of type BOD. From the evaluation of the effect of these treatments, the researchers determined the percentage of germination and vigor (germination speed index, length and phytomass of dry shoot and roots) of seeds, using a random design in four repetitions. They say the results show that from-0.4 MPa there was a drastic reduction of germination and vigor of seeds in all temperatures, for those subjected to a temperature of 25° C in the concentration of PEG 600-0, 2MPa, the best results were observed for these parameters.

For the researcher Marina Matias Ursulino, the results provide important information on the physiological characteristics of the species Dimorphandra gardneriana, used for production of various pharmacological products. In practice, this information can serve to guide the vivericultores grant in the production of quality seedlings of this species. The researcher also highlights that there are few studies that focuses on physiological characteristics of this plant description.

To read the article, access it

FACCIN, T.C., et al.
