Surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion may cause changes in periodontal tissue

The study had as objective to evaluated the periodontal status of adults submitted to surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion. The clinical attachment level, gingival recession, attached gingiva and bleeding were evaluated on the premolars, molars and incisors, before and at 5 days and 6 months after surgery.
